Nutrition
It is a wellknown fact that balanced nutrition plays an essential role in maintaining health. With all of the differing opinions in the news today, getting the facts from a trained professional is important. A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a medical professional who has undergone specific professional requirements for licensure, passes the national credentialing exam, and maintains ongoing continuing education. We encourage you to talk to an RD at Roger Williams Medical Center when receiving your care. Our nutrition experts can provide individualized counseling to fit your unique needs and guide you towards making beneficial lifestyle changes.

Nutrition Services at The Adele R. Decof Cancer Center
Common side effects of cancer treatment are a loss of appetite, early satiety, sore throat, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and taste or smell changes; all of which may result in unintentional weight loss. Optimal nutrition is therefore a key component of cancer treatment and survivorship. A Dietitian can create an individualized nutrition plan focused to prevent malnutrition and increase the tolerance of treatment side effects. Nutrition therapy will help the patient through weight maintenance, body tissue replenishment, and energy restoration. The multidisciplinary approach at the Cancer Center allows patients to meet with a Dietitian at the same time as other appointments. Ask your doctor or nurse about scheduling a nutrition consultation during your next visit.
