Donor dollars in action: The Champlin Foundations
Foundations play an important role in the fundraising efforts of Medical Centers like ours. Over the last few years, Roger Williams has been fortunate enough to be awarded two generous grants from The Champlin Foundations, which has been supporting non-profit organizations in Rhode Island since 1932.
In 2006, The Champlin Foundations awarded Roger Williams a $175,000 grant to purchase a second Digital Mammography unit for our Cancer Center. The first Digital Mammography unit was purchased by money raised from the Memories & Miracles Committee, a group of women who have been dedicated since 2002 to raising money to improve cancer care through the purchase of lifesaving equipment.
In 2007, Champlin again awarded Roger Williams with a $380,000 grant for a new inpatient geriatrics unit. Given our focus on elder care, this was a welcome and timely award from Champlin. The entire Medical Center family, on behalf of the patients we serve, sincerely thank The Champlin Foundations for its generous support of Roger Williams and our team of dedicated caregivers.
June Rockwell Levy supports Home Care through grant
Every day, professionals from Roger Williams are busy caring for people, both inside and outside the walls of our hospital and nursing home. Our Home Care division is especially busy and with a recent grant from The June Rockwell Levy Foundation, the team is better prepared to care for patients where they live. The $15,000 grant from the Levy Foundation has allowed Home Care to purchase a telehealth system to improve patient monitoring, reduce health care costs, and increase patient involvement in their own health. Through this new system, caregivers can get a more accurate daily picture of a patient's blood pressure, pulse and weight. Additionally, this system provides patients with diagnosis-specific education to assist in understanding their condition and recognizing potential issues faster.
